AG SPORTS Founder, Sandy Snakenberg Sandy Snakenberg after breaking the 24 hour WORLD Speed Skating Record in 1999. Read about his experience as reported in the “Fitness and Speed Skating Times” Magazine |
Introduction: Sandy has been an athlete since junior high school. A long distance runner and high jumper in high school, he became a skater while in the United States Navy 1980. Attending three Olympic training camps (one cycling, and two skating). It was at these camps that he was first introduced to some elements of Olympic style weight lifting to improve his performance.Skating is a lateral specific sport. During his over 25 years of skating. He had sustained a number of injuries. 29 breaks to be exact (He was a stunt skater for a time). Had rehabilitated himself to peak form using lateral conditioning techniques. Became ACE certified in 1988. Realizing the techniques they (ACE) used were more of a linear nature. Combining the two, he came up with training techniques that was found to be very different from the norm.In 1998 he met three time Olympic weight lifting coach Jim Schmitz . Interned and trained under him for three years, and had learned a great amount. Not just about Olympic style weight lifting, but also in coaching techniques. Jim had taught him how elements of this style can be applied to almost any sport. Together with his lateral perspective towards training. Sandy felt that he had come up with a unique approach to weight training, general conditioning, and can also be used in rehabilitation.
“This industry is always growing, and changing. I have had to keep up with the latest training methods. This means allot of reading, and research.”
Mission Statement
A. G. Sports runs on a “goal”-orientated philosophy.
Say a person wants weight management. After that, that same person wants to run their first marathon, or climb a mountain. Another wants to do Olympic style weight lifting for competition, or elements of Olympic style weight lifting to improve performance in their sport. Another wants rehabilitation to come back to performance form. Another wants to be more fit for play or sport. And so on… All goals.
